Hello all -
We're almost through October 1971 General Conference, and already I'm up to almost 100 posts on this blog.
I'm not even close to slowing down, but today was not a day to write.
Today we got up early, and drove out East. The dew was evaporating from the fields around the freeways, creating a sort of reverse morning fog that turned the entire world an awe-inspiring white.
You see, Sam and I are preparing for retirement - the day when we no longer will need to work full-time, and can devote more time to being together and working on projects we want to work on. It's coming up on us pretty soon.
We're moving. Welcome to the haven of our golden years. We call it Victory Cottage.
"To me it is faultless.
Nay, more,
I consider [the cottage} as the only form of building in which happiness is attainable,
and were I rich enough
I would instantly pull [my giant mansion} down,
and build it up again in the exact plan of this cottage."
- Mr. Willoughby, Sense and Sensibility
At least, we hope it will be our new house. We're putting an offer on it, and selling our current house to get there.
This house is not too big, and not too small, in a faraway beautiful undisclosed location. Close to a beautiful lake. We're gonna need a beautiful canoe.
Where there will be plenty of room to garden, plenty of time to read and write and make stuff.
Any prayers and good wishes are greatly appreciated.
